Flag Care

People often ask how long a flag should last and the answer is, "It all depends." Flags can last one day in a hurricane wind or many years with proper care. Wind, water, and sun all work together to lessen the life of a flag. It is best to take your flag down at night and during foul weather.

Hand-wash in cold water, with a mild detergent to help prevent dirt and pollutants from weakening the fabric. Hang the flag so it dries completely before folding or storing. To remove wrinkles, use an iron set on low heat. At the first sign of fraying, have the flag repaired before further damage is done.
