About Us

I have been a professional flag and banner maker since 1982. It is truly an art and I feel passionate about the work I do and all of the wonderful people I have met over the years through my work. I owned and operated a flag shop called Flying Colors on Thames Street in Newport, Rhode Island for nearly 14 years. We had a retail store that serviced homeowners, businesses, America's Cup teams, hundreds of boaters, both power, and sail, as well as many of the US Navy ships stationed there.

Fast forward to 2007, when I moved to Seattle, Washington. With the help of my daughter Zera, I was able to re-establish our business online, reconnecting with many of our longtime customers from Newport, who became part of our family, and welcoming a whole new generation of customers who are just as thrilled to discover our flags.

Over the years, I have had the honor of creating countless custom flags and banners, each one crafted with care and attention to detail. I love seeing the creativity of my customers come to life, so please feel free to share your ideas—I’m always happy to help turn them into a work of art. With nearly 40 years of experience in the flag industry, I can answer almost any flag-related question and have always been known for quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.

As of 2026, now in my 74th year, I am gradually retiring and excited to begin a new chapter while welcoming Zera to take a more active role in the business. She brings fresh energy and vision to the business while ensuring you continue to have access to the same high-quality flags you’ve come to expect. Some products will be made through trusted partners, allowing you to enjoy beautiful, handcrafted flags for years to come. I am grateful for every project, every customer, and every flag I’ve had the privilege to make, and I look forward to working alongside Zera during this transition to help you create something truly special.
